Criteria

Question 1: Does species need conservation or recovery in England?
Response: No
Justification: Currently Near Threatened (Rich 2025 in press). Now mostly with scattered, shortly persistent occurrences. Has gone from south-eastern England (Shaw 2020), declining in Worcestershire (Rich et al. 2018) and found in small quantity in 6 tetrads in Yorkshire where its is regarded as alien (Jones 2014). Probably low priority for hawkweed conservation currently, though worth watching longer term. Seed held in Millennium Seed Bank.
Question 2: Does recovery/ conservation depend on species-specific actions?
Response: No
Justification: Reasons for dynamic, short persistence occurrence unknown but difficult to research.
Question 3: At a landscape scale, would the species benefit from untargeted habitat management to increase habitat mosaics, structural diversity, or particular successional stages?
Response: No
Justification: Unknown at this stage
