Criteria

Question 1: Does species need conservation or recovery in England?
Response: Yes
Justification: Very few records exist, only two English records in the previous 10 years (Manchester and Shropshire)
Question 2: Does recovery/ conservation depend on species-specific actions?
Response: No
Justification: Historically widespread but local records in England.
Question 3: At a landscape scale, would the species benefit from untargeted habitat management to increase habitat mosaics, structural diversity, or particular successional stages?
Response: Yes
Justification: Marshes, river and steam margins with old or decayed alder (Alnus .sp). Requires alder bracket fungus Inonotus radiatus for larva development. The fungus may be found on other trees such as birch (Betula .sp) and beech (Fagus .sp). Protection and maintenance of these types of site may be of benefit, however populations appear to be limited therefore impact may be minimal.
