Criteria

Question 1: Does species need conservation or recovery in England?
Response: Yes
Justification: Only three records from England in the past ten years, all from Cumbria. In addition there are widespread but scattered older records in Central, Southern and South-west England, the most recent dating from 1984.
Question 2: Does recovery/ conservation depend on species-specific actions?
Response: No
Justification: Recent records are from within large areas of plantation and forest which may make any targeted actions difficult beyond maintenance of habitat.
Question 3: At a landscape scale, would the species benefit from untargeted habitat management to increase habitat mosaics, structural diversity, or particular successional stages?
Response: Yes
Justification: Conservation management of rides and glades within forests on a landscape scale, limiting of heavy grazing and maintenance of water levels within wet woodland may be productive although information on habitat requirements is limited.
