Criteria

Question 1: Does species need conservation or recovery in England?
Response: Yes
Justification: GB Red List (Fox et al. 2019): LC, however GB long term abundance decline of 74% & long term distribution decline of 62%. Distribution away from the south coast now fragmented.
Question 2: Does recovery/ conservation depend on species-specific actions?
Response: No
Justification: Remains widespread across southern coastal areas of England (and with more localised distribution elsewhere). One of many widespread but declining moths that requires research into drivers of decline.
Question 3: At a landscape scale, would the species benefit from untargeted habitat management to increase habitat mosaics, structural diversity, or particular successional stages?
Response: Yes
Justification: Improved structural diversity of grasslands likely to benefit the host plants (bedstraws); species remains fairly widespread and may be able to colonise newly-available breeding habitat, especially near the coast.
