Criteria

Question 1: Does species need conservation or recovery in England?
Response: No
Justification: This species may be extinct in the Widewater lagoon- its only known habitat globally, where it was last recorded in the 1980s prior to habitat degradation. The lagoon has undergone management and restoration and been repeatedly surveyed to seek this species in 1997, 2003 and 2013 and it was not found. No further action is possible to restore this species unless future surveys of the habitat show the species has survived.
Question 2: Does recovery/ conservation depend on species-specific actions?
Response: No
Justification: Just two records in England, in Shropshire and Wiltshire, the latter 'doubtful' (Telfer, 2016). Almost certainly extinct in Britain, also absent from NL and likely extinct in Belgium (Muilwijk et al 2015) so likely declining throughout its western European range
Question 3: At a landscape scale, would the species benefit from untargeted habitat management to increase habitat mosaics, structural diversity, or particular successional stages?
Response: N/A
Justification:
