Criteria

Question 1: Does species need conservation or recovery in England?
Response: Yes
Justification: This scrambling annual herb is questionably native in England, so much so that many of its putatively native coastal sites could be the result of introductions. It was assessed as NT in Britain (Cheffings et al., 2005) and as LC in England (Stroh et al., 2014). It is rarely present in quantity at any of its locations so securing it at a few cores sites at least would be prudent
Question 2: Does recovery/ conservation depend on species-specific actions?
Response: Yes
Justification: Although questionably native at many sites, it would be prudent to ensure its recovery/persistent at core sites using targeted actions
Question 3: At a landscape scale, would the species benefit from untargeted habitat management to increase habitat mosaics, structural diversity, or particular successional stages?
Response: No
Justification: This species is too localised and sporadic in appearance to benefit from non-targeted management.
