Criteria

Question 1: Does species need conservation or recovery in England?
Response: Yes
Justification: Considered extinct in England. Not recently recorded from New Forest despite searching and Somerset record is considered doubtful, although was searched for in Dec 2016 (Sanderson 2017).
Question 2: Does recovery/ conservation depend on species-specific actions?
Response: Yes
Justification: Recovery depends on successful reintroduction from Scotland, which will necessitate a species-specific approach.
Question 3: At a landscape scale, would the species benefit from untargeted habitat management to increase habitat mosaics, structural diversity, or particular successional stages?
Response: Yes
Justification: If present will likely to benefit from diverse woodland structure, especially sheltered glades.
